A window view on the last morning of the year 2012

Standing by the window,  painting on the last day of the year, I bid my silent goodbye to the year gone by.

A winter wonderland from Balmoral Bay

The light was fading so quickly in the afternoon when I set up my easel to paint this view from our driveway in the afternoon.

On a cold winter morning

Setting up my easel close to our living room window in the morning and painting this window view while listing to CBC Radio2 , I feel myself totally submerged into an  entranced world .

On an early winter morning

Pulling up the curtain of our  bedroom window early in the morning, I set up my easel in a rush to try to capture the moment when the sun started to rise pouring its radiant light through the wintry early morning landscape outside.

Cloudy and snowy at the moment when the lights are being switched on

It was dark, cloudy, cold  and snowy at 4 p.m when I set up my easel at the end of our driveway on Balmoral Bay. However, there was something indescribable about the cosy serenity of the view in front of me, spellbound by the beauty only winter could offer. Finishing my 16"x20" painting in an hour at around 5 p.m when all of a sudden the street lights were turning on transfiguring the whole mundane landscape into something bordering on divine.

Tender is the night

A night view from our window when the full moon was shining in the sky foiled by the warm wash from the street light.

My house on Balmoral Bay

The sunny weather returned for a moment before it varnished behind the dark thick clouds again. However, I still managed to put its sunny impression on my canvas.

Back alley in the last light

Standing in the cold to paint in the last light of the day was quite a challenge. However, the vibrant colour was just too beautiful to resist.

The moment when the street light was on

Trying to capture the moment when the street light was on casting a wash of warm light and colour to the wintry landscape.

The last glow of the day

The light and colour in the sky are so enticing towards evening that I set up my easel in the backyard painting again in the twilight  until it is getting too dark to see.

Frosty with partial cloudy sky

A bit foggy at noon today with trees encased with icy snow flakes.

When the street light was on

Looking out of the window again late in the evening when the street light was on. What a peaceful night!

In the dazzling winter sunshine

Finally after so many days without sunshine, the sun was shining bright today. However, I came home late and had to rush to do this quick oil sketch before it got dark again.

A brief sunny moment

A brief sunny moment on Sunday morning when I looked out of  our bedroom window.

Raging snow

A snow storm is sweeping across the prairie today.  Our car was almost totally covered by the snow in the morning.

On a snowy night

Always enjoy looking out of the window in the winter season when the street light was suddenly on.

A warm winter night when the street light was on

A warm day today. Towards evening the sky turned cloudless , and I could see the twinkling starts, and while sitting on the door step doing this quick oil sketch I could hear the water dripping down the eaves from the melting snow.

Window view on the wintry night

Snow ended towards evening , and temperature rose a bit melting some of the snow. A quick oil sketch from our living room window when the street light was on.

Snowed all day long

Cloudy and snowy all day long today. A view from our door step this morning.

Snow fast and heavy

Suddenly we found ourselves deep into the winter when the snow fell down fast and heavy today, enveloping everything in sight. Another quick oil sketch from our bedroom window at night.

On the Halloween evening

Setting up my easel  on my driveway to paint after supper. The neighbour across the street lined up their driveway with these orange bags of leaves adding a bit of cheerful and seasonal colour to the dreary view.

On a dark, wet and cold night

Always a challenging task to paint in the darkness while looking out of the window.Could not use flash light which would have made it difficult for me to see  the night view and correctly assess the light and colour as well as the value.

After the first fall of snow

Winter suddenly found its way there leaving a thin blanket of snow overnight.

A sunny moment late in the afternoon

A rare sunny moment at the end of the day. Standing on our patio, looking over the hedges, I did this quick oil sketch after supper.
