Tender warm street light on a dark wintry night
Just could not resist the view from our bedroom window when the warm street light started to lighten up what appeared to be such a cold and dreary wintry night.

Standing in the last light
Came to the back alley to paint in the afternoon with snow deep up to my knees. However a few minutes into the painting the light varnished giving way to the cloudy and snowy sky.

In the glow of late afternoon sunshine
Warm enough to allow me to paint outdoor in the afternoon. Love the glow of late afternoon sun with its intensity and warm glow.

Full moon sky on a winter night
Another quick oil sketch looking out of the window in the evening when the full moon started to rise and shine in her full glory.
The last glow
The last glow of the day. There is always a tender feel about this time of the year in winter season when the warm wash of the late sunlight is giving way to the cool shadow of the evening.

Friends of Riding Mountain National Park building
After the first painting I took shelter in the Friends of Riding Mountain National Park building to warm myself up and to have some food and drink. It just happened to be the Winter Day with the on going Occupying the Winter events. There I met Celes Davar who owns and operates Earth Rhythms, Inc. I started this painting across the street when the temperature plunged further down with blowing wind and snow. My oil paint started to freeze as well as my brush. I had to use palette knife to complete this painting. Celes came out to take pictures of me painting in such extreme weather and he also interviewed me regarding winter painting. Here is the recording of his interview .
Returned to Riding Mountain National Park on a cold cold winter morning !
It was absolutely a delightful experience to paint in Riding Mountain National Park today despite of the frigid weather with temperature plunging to 40 below with wind chill! Standing on Wasagaming Drive painting this view surrounded by absolute serenity, I could feel the joy pulsating through every muscle of my hand with brush and knife.

Winter afternoon, sunny but cold
A quick oil sketch outdoor after work. It was so cold that oil paint started to freeze once it got exposed to the cold air.

On the first morning of the new year from our front yard
It was a hoarfrost morning when I set up my easel outdoor to paint this first painting of mine for the new year.
