A glimpse out of the window at 11 this morning
Despite the frigid weather outdoor , and despite the claim of today being the Blue Monday , one of the most depressing days of the year, the glimpse of bright sunshine and intense blue sky always buoy up my spirits. Balmoral Bay at 11 a.m today.

Onanole Trail on a winter afternoon
Turned cloudy in the afternoon again with light snow drifting down when I came to the Timothy Road at the entrance of Onanole Trail to paint this view. It was so quite and mesmerizing standing there to paint on the roadside.

Snow covered Visitor Centre of Riding Mountain National Park
Came to Wasagaming after breakfast to stop in front of the visitor cnetre to paint right away. It was mild today but still 20 below. I had to put the tube of Titanium white Winsor Newton oil paint under my arm pit to keep it from being frozen every other few minutes ! I hope people did not notice me doing it

Two views from the cottage country outside Riding Mountain National Park
We accepted the generous offer from our dear friends to say at their cottage in Onanole area for two nights. This first of the 9 paintings was done right from outside their cottage looking into the wooded area when the late afternoon sun was shining brightly in the otherwise frigid weather.
Another view from outside the cottage right before the sunset. It was cold outside but so exciting to paint !
