A brief sunny moment in the morning from our doorway
A quick oil sketch from our door way when the sun came out only briefly this morning before it turned cloudy again. Listening to CBC radio 2 while painting like this is an absolute luxury to me.

Lake Katherine In the full sunlight
After a brief lunch break , the sun came out of the clouds shining brightly over the lake. Moving my easel to face the lake, I did one more plein air painting before heading back to Brandon late in the afternoon.
Aspen wood at the Loon's Island on Lake Katherine
A bit disappointed when it turned cloudy as we reached Lake Katherine at noon today. However it took no time for me to lose myself in the absolute silence at this location and at this time of year when the leafless aspens stood there like sentry on the Loon's Island In the course of my painting, I found myself suddenly holding my breath when the distant echo of a loon was reverberating across the mirror like lake.

Wet and cold
Wet and cold today. No doubt that winter is on its way. Looking over the hedges from our backyard, I did this quick oil sketch of the wooded area with its leafless trees.

Painted this view as a demonstration for my painting class from the studio of the Art Gallery of South western Manitoba looking out of its big window at the corner of 8th Street and Rosser Avenue of Downtown Brandon at 8 pm.
Raining outside
It has been raining all day long marking the end of the fall season with winter trailing not far behind now. A quick oil sketch from our window after supper.

The Music Building of Brandon University
Quiet at noon when I came to this spot to paint on Brandon University campus. The trees with their bright orange berries contrast nicely with the blue sky mirrored by the glass façade of the B.U music school building.

A view of Assiniboine River from Dinsdale Park of Brandon
Drove to Dinsdale Park in the afternoon to paint at this dam where two young girls were sitting on the edge of a big rock enjoying the late afternoon sunshine.

After sunset, the view from our backyard looked a bit bleak with the bare branches of the trees stretching into the evening sky.

Deep into the fall on Balmoral Bay
After an overnight rain, the view outside changed dramatically. It was wet, cold and cloudy when I stood on the corner to paint this view of Balmoral Bay on Thanksgiving morning.

Stopped by Global Market Brandon today
Driving by Global Market today, I stopped to paint a quick oil sketch of the market with the colourful seasonal produce glowing in the autumnal sun.
What a sunny autumn morning!
Standing in front of the window, looking out into this beautiful sunny morning with music from CBC Radio 2 filling up our room, I started to paint this window view, losing my self in the mesmerizing beauty of both the view and the music.

Half an hour before our guests coming for supper, I attempted to do a quick oil sketch of Fengping cooking, however, had to give it up and started to set up the table instead.

On my 52th birthday
The mood of the view seems to be echoing with what I feel about my own age today on my 52th birthday. I hardly celebrate on an occasion like this. However, when you suddenly find yourself way passing your prime time of your life, there is always a sense of sadness. Just wish I would still have enough energy and passion to carry on what I have been pursuing for the last 8 years.

A path in the park
The sky turned cloudy when I started the third painting for the day. The quiet path flanked by big elm trees turning vibrant yellow is a sight unforgeable at this time of the year.
A glimpse of the Clear Lake from the 9th hole of the golf course
It always excites me to paint from this particular location on Clear Lake Golf Course. With the full fall colour in sight , it is such a visual feast to paint here now.

Harvest moon
Using a flash light , painted the view of full moon in the sky at 10 p.m. foiled by the warm street light.
sunset moment from our backyard
Trying to capture the moment after sunset when the last ray of sunlight hit the small ash tree behind the hedges.
Painting on Culture Day in Princess Park of Brandon
As part of Culture Day activities, I set up my easel painting in Princess Park of Brandon trying to capture the moment when Kevin Conlin , the well known ceramic artist was doing a demonstration on site with people gathering and watching.
Early in the morning from our front yard
Painting from our front yard early in the morning when the light hit the foliage of the trees turning golden yellow is such a delicious experience.
